Vintage Johnson Bros Windsor Ware Wild Turkeys Native Americana Platter

Large vintage oval serving platter in the "Wild Turkeys" (Native Americana) pattern by Johnson Brothers, part of their classic Windsor Ware line, made in England. The center of the platter features a beautifully detailed wild turkey in full strut, hand colored in warm greens, rust, and brown tones against a naturalistic woodland scene of trees, grasses, and foliage. The wide scalloped border is decorated in a rich sepia brown transferware print, with four oval reserves each depicting a different native game bird (grouse, quail, and pheasant), surrounded by an intricate floral and foliate border pattern. The backstamp includes authentic Johnson Bros Windsor Ware, made in England, a genuine hand engraving with all decoration colors acid resisting (registration number 74,050). This is a wonderful statement piece for Thanksgiving, fall entertaining, or as a display piece for a lodge, farmhouse, or traditional dining room.

It would make an excellent addition to an existing Wild Turkeys collection or a striking gift for a collector of vintage English transferware. Pattern: Wild Turkeys / Native Americana, Windsor Ware.
