Made by Johnson Brothers of England, fabled for their well-made Ironstone china featuring castles and the Friendly Village, this set of eight plates were perhaps originally used as butter dishes or coasters. Four of the small 4 plates feature a horse-drawn carriage in front of the 900-year-old medieval manor house of Haddon Hall located in Derbyshire. The other four feature the gothic revival country house of Norris Castle on the Isle of Wight.
They are in very good vintage condition and do not appear to have any chips, cracks or crazing.
