Made in England, this Johnson Brothers Wild Turkeys Brown Native American serving platter is impossible to find in this size: 17 inches in length, with a width of 14 inches. In superb condition, there are no chips, no cracks and there is no crazing on this glossy, oval Windsor Ware beauty. The platter's center features. Two wild turkeys with muted green, dusty pink and brown feathers (and even a few blue and purple ones).
Pairs of resting turkeys and flowers galore decorate its outer rim. The only flaws to mention are a few extremely faint scratches in the middle that are only noticeable if you are inspecting this piece up close in very bright light and one pin point-sized raised bump in a corner that is original to its production (see last photo). In addition, its underside does have some small gray scratches (see 2nd to last photo).
Underneath the platter is the slightly smudged Johnson Bros Windsor Ware backstamp and spur (kiln) marks that are original to its production, which was likely in the 1950s or 1960s.
